Brownsburg, IN (October 23, 2009 ) Team Apex Racing , USA tested this past Thursday with Joao Horto in a Star Mazda at Putnam Park Raceway.
This was the first outing in a Star Mazda race car for Horto, who comes out of the Formula BMW series this year having claimed his first podium in his rookie year. Horto logged over 150 miles during the test and went away smiling. "I really like this car and the power is much more than I expected", said Horto
"Joao never put a wheel wrong and did a fantastic job for his first time driving a Star Mazda", said team manager Martin Bates.
Team Apex Racing, USA was formed in 2004 and has been involved in grass roots racing since 1989. The team emerged as championship contenders in the 2005 Formula BMW USA series with Canadian rookie Robert Wickens and continued its winning heritage in 2007 with American superstar Alexander Rossi. Team sponsors include Wabash Capital Investments, Apex Performance x3 and Indiana State University Motorsports Initiative.
